Sipho 'Brickz' Ndlovu's prison nightmare is far from over, as he not only doesn't qualify for special remission but also not for parole. According to sources, the star was hoping to be eligible for special remission last year when President Cyril Ramaphosa gave green light to the special remission of thousands of inmates across the country.
EXCLUDED
Various well-placed sources told ZiMoja that Brick was hoping to make the cut as he still believes that he is innocent. "He still believes that he is innocent, that he was set up and that he didn't rape anyone. As much as he pretends to be strong, being in prison has taken its toll on him," says the source. Another source reveals that the star feels like his life is passing him by, as he watches his peers make inroads in their careers in showbiz. The source asserted, " He feels as if he's being punished and that by the time he gets out, he won't have a life. He sees his peers doing well and that frustrates him, because he can't do anything from prison."
HOPEFUL
Brickz who was sentenced to 15-years behind bars in 2017 for raping his then 16-year-old relative at their rented house on Northriding, north of Joburg, is said to have hopes that he will come out sooner than later. "He's hoping that he will get out soon, so he can put back the pieces of his life. He keeps talking about the plans he has when he gets outside," revealed another source. But, according to the Department of Correctional Services spokesman Singabakho Nxumalo, there is still a long way before Brickz is released. Nxumalo explained why Brickz didn't make the cut during last year' special remission programme. "Sexual offenders are outside the list of those to benefit. Inmates can only be considered for parole placement after serving a minimum detention period," he said.
