Social media went on a frenzy recently after a 17-year-old teenage girl posted a video of herself thanking her boyfriend for buying her an iPhone 15 as a gift for their four-year anniversary. The joyful teary teen seen sitting in a Mercedes Benz captioned her video: "POV:4 years anniversary gift". She went on to kiss someone beside her and said: "thank you baby".

Social media detectives from X, formerly known as Twitter, uncovered the man and claimed it was a 40-year-old pastor of a church based in Ekurhuleni. They asked for him to be arrested because The married "pastor" allegedly started seeing the girl when she was only 13 years old. Important figures such as BOSA leader Mmusi Maimane has called for the pastor to be arrested.

A video of the said teen twerking and her mother joining her has led social media users accusing the mother of knowing about her daughter's affair with the pastor and condoning it. The pastor or the church could not be reached for comment as their church page has since been deleted from social media. The pastor's personal page has also been deactivated while the teenager's Instagram page has been deleted.

In a separate incident, a prominent pastor at The Oasis of Life Family Church in Ekurhuleni is facing three counts of sexual assault after three victims, all members of his church, laid charges against him at the Daveyton Police Station early this year.

National police spokesperson, Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, said the pastor was arrested on 28 February and charged the same day. "The pastor has been charged with the sexual assault of three victims. His bail conditions were that he should not be in contact with the complainants and their witnesses or threaten or intimidate them." The police also confirmed that the pastor had been cautioned not to leave the country until the case was finalised. The passport of the man, who is in his 70s, is currently with the investigating officer. He is expected back in court tomorrow.
