Soccer star battles depression

The soccer star is facing depression head on

Bafana Bafana and Burnley FC striker, Lyle Foster, is putting his mental health first. His mental illness has thrown a cat among the pigeons since he may not take part in the Bafana qualifying games leading to the 2026 World Cup.

Foster, who played an important role in the promotion of Burnley in the previous season to the English Premier League, has been diagnosed with severe depression. He is under specialist care, and his English club are asking for privacy.Burnley has announced that Foster who once donned the Orlando Pirates development team shirt, has taken a bold step in prioritising his mental health by seeking professional assistance.


DEALING WITH IT


In a statement, his team said," On behalf of Lyle Foster and his family, they have asked us to provide an update on Lyle?s illness. Recently, Lyle informed us that he continues to grapple with challenges related to his mental well-being and has taken the courageous step of seeking professional help."

The 23-year-old striker is receiving help from his family, his team, friends and specialists who are helping him deal with this dark moment.

"At present, he is under the care of specialists who are providing the necessary support and attention to facilitate his full recovery. With the love and support of his family and the entire Burnley Football Club, we are committed to offering everything he needs to regain his health," said the statement.
