Orlando Pirates legend, Julius 'KK' Sono, almost died in a horrible car accident on Friday afternoon. Sono, who is the father of Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rhulani Mokwena, is lucky to be alive after his white Mercedes Benz was hit from behind.
KK Sono
LIFE IMPORTANT TO GOD
The accident happened on the same street where Sono lives in in Orlando East - which is a stone throw away from Orlando Stadium where he showed his skills for Pirates in the 1980s. Sono is the younger brother of another Pirates legend, Jomo Sono. The car was allegedly hit by a speeding Jeep. In a Facebook post, he wrote,"God is great look at this car at the back. My life is important to God. Flying V8 Jeep hit my Benz at the back." One Facebook follower Thembinkosi Shakes Mente commented on the accident: "Grootman is this Eric Scara Sono car"
Another Facebook user, Peter Mallett, was more sympathetic and wrote: "That's awful I hope no serious injuries. Are you okay? You must have a guardian angel. Be careful over the next few days, monitor for neck and back pain and don't tell anyone you are 100 percent okay until, you are sure. I went through a similar experience and my injuries didn't start to hurt until a week or more later."
NEARLY MISSED OUT
Sono, who is the number one fan of his son when it comes to his coaching, almost missed out on watching Rhulani coach Sundowns against Pirates in their Saturday night match played in Pretoria.
