Musician, Sjava, real name Jabulani Radebe is no stranger to acting. He was introduced to mainstream acting when he joined Zone 14 and Zonke, more than a decade ago. He also played the role of Mandla Dlamini in the SABC1 mini-series Gugu no Andile. This time, he joins the new cast of daily drama, Queendom.
THE NEW ROLE
Queendom is a scripted daily drama that is already creating a social media frenzy over Mduduzi Mabaso's in-character look. Queendom is about the colliding of two worlds, shot in the majestic and mountainous Khahlamba Kingdom and the vibrant township of Tsakane. Linda Mtoba plays the fearless protagonist Ntandokayise Mthobeni, Hamilton Dlamini plays the regal King Banzi Khahlamba, Nhlanhla Kunene is the heartthrob. Pallance Dladla is the dashing Prince Mcebo Khahlamba and Sjava plays Prince Mkhuseli Khahlamba, the firstborn son of King Banzi.
AN ACTOR
The award-winning artist created the opening track for, Queendom titled Wena Wamanzi. Sjava said he is honoured to be part of something "that pays homage to African culture, and I'm honoured to have been able to contribute a piece of my music to the narrative. I love acting. A lot of people don't know that I am both a musician and an actor from way back," he added.
