Singer, DJ, producer, and lawyer Zandi Mazz, real name Zandile Mazithulela is currently recovering in hospital after undergoing surgery to remove a brain tumor. The singer reveals she was diagnosed with a brain tumor a year ago.
POST-SURGERY
Zandi confirmed the news of her hospitalization, saying she has kept the illness a secret and it is now impossible to hide. "I was diagnosed with a brain tumour, the worst news of my life,' she says. "It took me more than a year of depression to accept my fate and finally reach a decision to go for surgery which was my only fighting chance.' The Maphupho singer says the past year has been a heavy burden for her to carry. "I am on day one of recovery. I couldn't share it with people, but I had to let people know that it was possible. I chose to fight. I know there are a lot of people facing the same thing. It's possible to fight, just have faith in God and give yourself a chance.' she said.
SEIZURES A SIGN
Zandi tells ZiMoja she has been living with the tumour for eight years without knowing. "I found out approximately about eight years later. It was about the size of a lemon.' She consulted a doctor after suffering two seizures. "I had a seizure in the UK after my show. I ignored it and I had another seizure a few weeks after in Zambia," she says. The singer adds that when she came back home, she decided to have a CT scan done after being advised by a friend who is a medical doctor. Zandi says her recovery is all "in God's hands.'
