Singer comes out gun blazing after being accused of not pitching for gig

Singer Mawhoo says she was never paid for a gig in blouberg

Singer Mawhoo has refuted claims that she didn't pitch for an event over the weekend in Limpopo. Mawhoo said that she wasn't paid for the gig.

She said the accusations made against her are false and meant to damage her reputation. This comes after she was accused on social media posts of failing to honour a paid booking at the Blouberg Spring Festival.

ALL LIES

In an elaborate statement, Mawhoo, real name Thandeka Ngema, said that she wanted the promoter to stop spreading rumours about her not honouring the gig. She said: "I hereby humbly request the promoter by the name of Eddz to immediately cease and desist from spreading false and harmful information about me and my music career." She said Eddz's actions constitute defamation and are causing harm to her reputation and livelihood. "The false statements you have made about me, saying I failed to pitch at the Blouberg Spring Festival in Senwabarwana, Limpopo, are entirely unfounded and malicious," she said.

NO PAYMENTS DONE

Mawhoo said the standard practice is that her team communicates with promoters prior to any event she partakes in. She also claimed that she was never booked because there were payments made to her name. "Therefore, in this case, I was not booked, nor was I paid any deposit. I have enclosed proof in reference to the subject. I take pride in my craft and have worked tirelessly to build a reputable name in the music industry," she said. It did not end there; she acknowledged that Eddz's slanderous comments and actions are damaging her reputation and causing emotional distress, detracting from her ability to secure gigs and collaborations. Part of her two demands to the promoter is for him to retract all the false accusations. She said: "I request that you retract all false accusations. Remove any related online posts and content. "Failure to do so may result in legal action. The festival organisers said in a social media post that they have spoken to Mawhoo and they realised that she was not paid the money they had given to Eddz, who was booking artists for them. When called for a comment, the artist agent, who is known only as Eddz, refused to comment, citing that he would explain what happened later. "I can't talk about it at the moment," he said.
