Singer Marc Rantseli, who died last week will be laid to rest at the Westpark Cemetery's Heroes' Acre, his brother Alex Teboho Rantseli confirmed. Alex, half of 80s pop group, MarcAlex, also paid tribute to his late brother. He spoke glowingly about Marc (58) who died at the Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital.
Alex said his elder brother was diagnosed with brain aneurysms three years ago, where a vein in his head burst. He recovered after spending months in hospital and went on to get a job at SAMRO. A heartbroken Alex said, "He suffered for three years ago but two weeks ago it came back, and it took him away from us. We loved my brother dearly even when he was difficult sometimes and we will miss his gentle spirit, the beautiful moments and the music we shared as brothers, MarcAlex, lifting our family name and community back in the 80s, 90s and beyond," Alex said.
The award-winning duo released hit songs like Quick Quick and Heartbreaking Love, which received huge airplay. Their hit songs had a crossover appeal. Alex added, "I will forever cherish our time together navigating life, growing up in Diepkloof, Soweto, and Lesotho in Maseru East. I don't have the right words at this time but I had to say something. We will miss Marc dearly and may his soul rest in peace." Marc's funeral service will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Diepkloof Extension, Soweto at 8AM tomorrow. "The cortege then departs to Westpark Cemetery at 10am and mourners will go back to the Rantseli home at Zone 4 Diepkloof," Alex concluded.
