Gospel singer, Lebo Sekgobela has expressed gratitude after she survived a burst appendix that saw her spend weeks in hospital. The Lion of Judah hitmaker says she thanked God for a second chance at life.
RUPTURED APPENDIX
Sekgobela says she was going on with her day as normal when she suddenly felt a sharp pain around her stomach. Luckily for her, her husband Lucky Sekgobela who is also her manager was around and he insisted they must go to the hospital. "I was in so much pain that I kept praying until we got to the hospital," she said, adding that when she arrived at the hospital, she was rushed to the theatre for an emergency operation. Sekgobela says if she was not rushed to the hospital, things would have been different. "I don’t know what triggered my appendix, but all I know is that thing is painful and deadly, if I did not go to the hospital straight away, I don’t think I would be doing this interview with you," she says.
SHE THOUGHT SHE WAS GOING TO DIE
She told ZiMoja that she spent two weeks in the hospital and thanked God for a second chance in life. "I was scared. I thought I was going to die but my faith kept me alive," she adds. Sekgobela says the appendix is the most painful thing to go through. "I don’t wish the pain upon anyone, but am glad the operation was a success," she adds.
CANCELLING GIGS
Sekgobela says she had to cancel a few gigs because she was in the hospital, although some people who bought tickets were angry it was beyond her control. "I would like to apologise to my supporters who bought tickets for the three shows I missed, I am truly sorry but there was nothing I could do," she adds. Sekgobela who is still recovering from home says to give back to God, she is going to have a show on the 29 July. "The show will be called Total Praise and Worship and it will be hosted at Carnival City in Brakpan, East Rand. "I want to thank God for giving me life," she added. Sekgobela’s illness also delayed her upcoming album. "I had to stop writing songs because I was sick, but now that I am home, I have started writing again," she says.
