Judge Caseem Moosa has ruled at the Johannesburg High Court sitting in Palm Ridge on Friday that Sifiso Mkhwanazi's confession to his father will be used as evidence against him in the trial. The court held a trial within a trial to determine the admissibility of Mkhwanazi's confession made to his father, Mark Khumalo.

Mkhwanazi admitted to killing five women with an arm choke and shooting a sixth one. The six victims are believed to be sex workers who were rendering their services to the accused. Their bodies were dumped at Mkhwanazi's father's makeshift workshop near Faraday taxi rank in Joburg CBD. In his ruling Judg Moosa said: "The conversation that took place between Mkhwanazi and Khumalo was made freely without any influence. The court rules that the confession is admissible in law against the accused."

Mkhwanazi admitted to killing all six sex workers but has pleaded not guilty to all charges tabled against him. He is facing six counts of murder, seven counts of rape, six counts of defeating or obstructing the administration of justice, robbery with aggravating circumstances, and unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
