The African National Congress (ANC) has been a dominant political force in South Africa for decades, but recent years have seen its popularity decline. However, the party may soon receive a boost with the return of one of its former members like King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo.
King Dalindyebo, the traditional leader of the abaThembu people, was a member of the ANC until 2013, when he was expelled from the party for various reasons, including insulting party leaders and calling for a boycott of the national elections. He was also convicted of multiple crimes, including kidnapping, assault, and arson, and was sentenced to 12 years in prison. He kissed the ANC goodbye and joined the EFF. At the time, the fighters even bought him a luxurious car as a gesture of appreciation.
In December 2019, President Cyril Ramaphosa granted King Dalindyebo pardon, which led to his release from prison in January 2020. Images of the King have emerged on social media of him wearing ANC regalia suggesting that he has gone back to his first love- the ANC.. His return to the ANC could be a significant development for the party, as he is a prominent figure in South African politics and has a large following among the abaThembu people.
There is also speculation that King Dalindyebo?s return to the ANC could help to heal divisions within the party. The ANC has been plagued by internal conflicts in recent years, and many analysts believe that the party needs to unite if it is to remain a viable political force in South Africa.
While some may criticise King Dalindyebo?s past actions and behaviour, his return to the ANC could be a positive development for the party and for South Africa as a whole. But whenever the King goes, drama sure always follows!
