He has just been discharged from hospital after spending seven days under the watchful eye of doctors in hospital. Ghetto Ruff/Muthaland CEO and record label boss Lance Stehr tells ZiMoja that he had a minor heart condition that needed attention, but he is all good and well.

A HEART ATTACK

Seven days ago, the veteran music executive says he got a heart scare when he felt pain in his left arm. "I have been hospitalised twice before after a heart condition. So, when I remembered the feeling, my family rushed me to the hospital," he says. He had a few checks and tests before doctors advise that they needed to monitor him for a few days. "But I am okay now, it's nothing to worry about. I am not dying anytime soon," he banters. "I am glad that I am okay, I still have a lot of work to do. But I know that I need to take care of my health and watch what I eat."

HIS LIFE'S STORY

The health scare comes a month after Lance first announced the upcoming release of his memoir titled, A dog called Lance. The book is set to document his journey in the music industry starting with the hip-hop group, Prophets of da City in 1988 and going on to Skeem, Oda Meesta, Ghetto Luv, Amu, Zola, Pitch Black Afro, Brickz, Dj Cleo, Mapaputsi, Brown Dash, Mzekezeke, Yizo Yizo, Tsotsi, Tuks, Morafe, Spykos, Mgarimbe, Ishmael, Jozi, Da Les, Bongani Fassie, Mali Soul, Fly Chix, Touchline, Vusi Nova, Nathi, Onesimus, Hush, TeeJay and the list is endless. From hip-hop, kwaito, house, gospel, pop, Afro-pop, Afro-soul to recently Amapiano, he has worked on all these genres. In his upcoming book, he has decided to take readers behind the scenes to set down facts straight with receipts, proof and documentation of stories never been told before.

DOCUMENTING HISTORY

Lance's label has produced multi-platinum-selling artists with some ending on the wrong side of the law. Still recording new artists, Lance feels that this book can help upcoming artists not fall into the same trap as certain artists. The title of the book is inspired by his long-term "rival" Bonginkosi "Zola 7" Dlamini who named one of his late dogs after the man that discovered his talent. "That is essentially where the title comes from," he tells ZiMoja. "People had a glimpse of who I am on the podcast interview I did. But this is where the detail will be," he says.
