No beef between Rebecca Malope and Lindelani Mkhize

Rebecca Malope performed at Zanele Mbokazi's funeral over the weekend

Like a true professional and legend, Dr. Rebecca Malope has shrugged off the incident that is perceived to be beef between her and music mogul Lindelani Mkhize. The co-founder of Joyous Celebration, Mkhize, had to cut short the performance of Ribs, as Malope is popularly known, during the late Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule's funeral on Saturday.

PERFORMERS TOLD TO STICK TO THEIR ALLOCATED TIMES

The incident happened at the ICC in Durban, where Mkhize was the MC. The performers and speakers were told to stick to the time allocated since Mbokazi was afforded a provincial state funeral, which saw dignitaries from the government also participating. Mkhize cut short the performance of Malope while she was still singing her fan favourite Ngibe Muhle Nami. Malope even tripped on stage while singing her 2009 hit song, Ngiyekeleni. She stood up and continued to sing as if nothing had happened. Yesterday, she addressed the issue of not finishing her performance at the massively attended funeral.

ALL LOVE AND RESPECT

She wrote on her Facebook page: "South Africa, my beautiful family, thank you so much for all your love and concern. UMama Wenu (your mother) is 100% fine. My performance was cut short because of the time limitations caused by the strict schedule and protocol that we all had to follow. It was not anyone's fault. I am fine. Lindelani Mkhize and I have been colleagues for many years, and we share deep respect for each other. He was not at fault at all; he was just doing his job," Malope said. She urged her fans to keep focus on Mbokazi-Nkambule's great send-off and not turn the attention to anything negative. Mbokazi's husband, Bishop Mpendulo Nkambule, was also grateful for the support their family received during his wife's sendoff. "We are grateful for the love and support we received from people from all walks of life, as we took my beautiful wife, Zanele Mbokazi, to her final resting place. She is now absent from the body but present with the Lord. I thank President Cyril Ramaphosa for affording her an official funeral by the province. The honour was fitting. I appreciate the KZN Premier Thami Ntuli, the Ethekwini Mayor, Cyril Xaba, for making this possible. Rest in power, my love. We shall meet in that glorious resurrection," he said.
