Her beauty business had kicked off the ground and she was managing her depression. Just when she thought everything was going well in her life, she was triggered and had a mental breakdown after visiting a friend. Reality TV star Noluvuyo Bubbly Sodela found herself on a hospital bed in a psychiatric hospital, questioning her existence. "I got a mental breakdown. I cried, screamed and couldn't breathe. I lost my mind for a good three days and had to get medical attention,' she tells ZiMoja. "I managed to call a friend for help, she picked me up by the petrol station and took me to the police station and we went to hospital,' Bubbly adds.
HOSPITALISED
After the breakdown, she was hospitalised and spent a weekend getting treated. "I was given Risperidone, which is a medicine used to treat symptoms of schizophrenia, unusual thinking and depression. I was also given meds to calm me and for appetite because I was not eating.' Bubbly also has a spiritual calling which she is still working towards. "I need to fix things before I answer my calling but I'm happy to be healing my clients through my good vibes, awesome energy through my services by my wellness spa,' she says. "I bring their confidence back it's amazing."
LOSING HER LOVER
She believes that the panic attack was caused by a build-up of incidences in her life, one being grief. Bubbly lost her partner during Covid-19 pandemic after being infected. "He was taking treatment and unfortunately couldn't make it. He died while in the UK and it broke my heart because I couldn't even say my last goodbyes due to the travel restrictions.' Bubbly hasn't recovered from the pain and is still grieving. "I don't think after losing my partner and friends I became mentally okay, but I'm stronger now. After being hospitalised, I learned that I need to take it easy and not beat myself up my head.'
DRAMA
She just finished shooting the reunion of This Body Works For Me season two, which she felt was draining. "Season one was peaceful. Yes, we had our challenges but season two was emotionally draining, full of fights and unnecessary drama,' she says. "It made me question whether it was worth it all.' But Bubbly says, looking at the episodes as they play back won't change anything. "I didn't entertain nonsense. I just want to focus on expanding my beauty and wellness business."
