Controversial former Ukhozi FM radio presenter Ngizwe Mchunu has taken a jab at his former colleague now born-again Christian, deejay Sgqemeza. Mchunu was reacting to a video of Sgqemeza which emerged this week where the Ukhozi FM’s Vuka Mzansi Breakfast show host was seen praying for elderly women.
ACCUSED OF BEING DRIVEN BY POVERTY
The blabber-mouth started mocking Sgqemeza, whose real name is Sipho Mbatha, implying that he is driven by poverty and that he does not believe that the former party boy has reformed. " I don’t believe my eyes. What is he trying to do and who is he trying to impress here," he asked. Mchunu questioned the radio personality’s newfound faith. "Earth has its own way of doing things. Is this Sgqemeza that I am seeing here praying for elderly women. This man has been trying for a long time to become a pastor. He has been at it for a long time after quitting alcohol. Those who are close to him must please ask him on my behalf what he is really doing. Is it because of hunger or he is desperate to make a quick buck? This is a joke, total madness," he said. DJ Sgqemeza’s name was synonymous with nightlife, but those days are over. The Ukhozi FM breakfast show co-host is now a born-again Christian and he says is proud of it.
NOT MOVED BY MOCKERS
Speaking to ZiMoja, the former party boy says he is not moved by people mocking him because he’s doing the Lord’s works. "I am glad he is noticing that I have changed, this means that God is at work... it is also not too late for him to change," Sgqemeza said. Last month, ZiMoja reported that Sgqemeza was a born-again Christian who no longer drinks and does not play at nightclubs and other social spaces. "I have accepted Christ as my Lord and Saviour and I am proud to tell the world," he said. He said since becoming born again, he has lost some friends while those who support his journey are still around. He also revealed that he is now a married man to a God-fearing woman. "A lot has happened since I have fully committed myself to God. My wife is very supportive of my journey, in fact, we are both on the same journey, we pray together and we meditate in the Word," he said.
