Following Themba "Maphorisa' Sekowe missing his gig at SoWhat Lounge and Vegas in the Eastern Cape on Saturday due to fight delays, another promoter has come forward to say that he too has been 'done dirty' by DJ Oscar Mbo, who cost him an arm and a leg.

C Tone Productions funder Luzuko Khohli said the level of disrespect artists are showing Eastern Cape promoters is concerning. "I booked Oscar Mbo recently. I booked flights and everything, then he later told me to change his flight to an earlier time as he had another gig in Johannesburg,' Luzuko said. "I then realised there were no more flights available in East London, and he asked me to book one to Gqeberha. Mind you, I paid R3,200 per person per single flight, and now this. I booked the flight," Luzuko said.

He added that the Oscar Mbo then demanded that he pay them an extra R15 000 from the agreed performance fee just because they would be travelling on the ground from Gqeberha. Luzuko said he put on his negotiation hat, as this was not his doing. "I tried my best to negotiate this, and he threatened to not pitch if I didn't pay the R15k. Mind you, this artist was not giving me any value for me to tap into their market. They want me to pay an additional R40k for them to post the show in their feed,' he added. He added that he had to pay the artist an additional R15k and transport the artist to Gqeberha just to protect his brand. "But the very same artist couldn't even share the poster on his feed. I had a choice of returning the favour and not transporting them in the morning until they paid my money. But I couldn't because we always try to protect our brands and relationships," he said. "The reality is that we are taken for a ride by these people. I feel for Vegas, I hope people understand that it was not their fault.' Oscar Mbo said he does not remember the above, "I don't recall the booking. People always have something to say, and I always try to stick to agreements."
