ANC councilor shot dead at home

Murdered Thabo Ngwenya

The police in Mpumalanga have launched a manhunt for four people suspected of the shooting of ANC councillor in front of his wife on Tuesday night. The incident happened in Mangweni in Nkomazi. Four criminals wearing a balaclava stormed the home of councillor Thabo Ngwenya while the family was watching TV.

ASSAULTED COUNCILLOR'S WIFE

It is alleged that the four men demanded money, cellphones and car keys before shooting the 35-year-old Ngwenya. As if that was not enough, it is alleged that the thugs further assaulted his wife and also robbed her. Mpumalanga SAPS spokesperson Colonel Richard Mdhluli confirmed the incident. "The police in Tonga are investigating a case of murder and robbery following an incident where about four suspects are said to have stormed into a certain house in Mangweni near Komatipoort. They then reportedly shot the male victim twice then assaulted his wife. The suspects also robbed the victims of their cellphones and a bakkie," he said.

MOTIVE UNKNOWN

Mdhluli also said that the victim was taken by a private transport to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. "The motive for the killing is not yet established. No one has been arrested as yet and the police are hard at work ensuring that suspects are sought and apprehended," he said.
