Six killed in KZN mass shooting

The police in Mlazi are searching for suspects who killed six men

The police in KwaZulu Natal have launched a manhunt after six men were shot dead in the uMlazi township, south of Durban on Friday night. It is alleged that unknown gunmen ambushed occupants in a house just before midnight and shot at them.

ONE OF THE KILLERS DEMANDED HIS ID

Police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda said it’s understood one of the suspects demanded his Identity Document (ID) from one of the victims before he opened fire. "It is believed that he was implicated and is wanted by police for another murder in which he allegedly dropped his ID accidentally, and reports indicate that he believed that one of the deceased was in possession of his identity document," he said. Netshiunda added that the suspects proceeded to a nearby house where they fatally wounded two men just before midnight. The other men were killed in a backroom while the others were shot next to an outside toilet. "Three of the suspects have been identified and a 72-hour mobilisation of maximum resources has been activated in search of the suspects," Netshiunda said. Police are appealing to anyone who might have information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects to contact the police, or call our Crime Stop number 0860 010 111, or alert the police via the MySAPS app.
