Pastor Edward Nkhulumisa from St John Apostolic Church in Soweto is taking 40 families to court for land invasion in his plot based in Midrand in Gauteng.  

ZiMoja is in possession of a letter, dated 7 March 2024, which was issued by the Sherriff of the Court where it was instructing all illegal occupants to vacate his land. Nkhulumisa told ZiMoja that he bought his land in 2000 and wants to invest in it and start his own businesses. ZiMoja is in possession of a letter where one of the residents paid R45 000 for the land to build a house in Nkhulumisa's land. "People will think that I'm not a Christian by doing this but I want my land back and I want the people who have occupied it illegally to move out. This is my land and I have plans for it. I have been begging people to move out of my land but instead of moving out more and more people are invading my land," he said.

Nkhulumisa said that the people began invading his land in 2022. "The most hurtful thing about people invading my land is that they don't know what I have planned for it. I want to build rooms and rent them out but now it is hard for me to continue with my projects as more and more people are buying plots from the people I don't even know without my permission. This is my land I want to build something that will be able to sustain my family even the future generation. When people want to buy a stand or plots, they must go and negotiate with the municipality so that they can own their land and build their houses in those plots. I want my land back, the people who have occupied my land illegally must vacate as soon as possible," he said.
