One person taken in for questioning over Lusikisiki family massacre

Police Minister Senzo Mchunu and National Police Commissioner of SAPS General Fanie Masemola have confirmed that a person of interest is being questioned in connection with a mass shooting of 18 people in Lusikisiki in the Eastern Cape.

 

ARRESTS IMMINENT

 

Mchunu said the people they are looking for are shaking now, wherever they are. "We will tell you of any arrests as the days go by, the commissioner will announce. Minister Mchunu has called on communities to report people who have illegal firearms. He warned South Africans to stop praising people who brandish illegal firearms. "The police are not izangoma. If you know someone who has an illegal firearm and is using it to terrorise the community, report them. Go to the police or call them and report it. It's not a cool thing; families are dying because some of you even glorify these criminals, yet you know they have blood on their hands." The victims were gunned down in Ngobozana village in Lusikisiki in the early hours of Saturday.The gunmen ambushed two homesteads in the same street. The police said in the first homestead, four people were shot dead with no survivors, while at the second homestead, where there were 19 people in two separate houses in the same yard, 13 people were shot dead.
