Nota Baloyi's rape case postponed

Nota Baloyi will be back in court next month

Controversial artist manager Nhlamulo 'Nota' Baloyi briefly appeared in the Randburg Magistrate's Court today but his case was postponed to 29 November due to the unavailability of the magistrate. Baloyi, who is out on R5 000 bail, faces charges of rape filed by a popular actress.

MAINTAINING HIS INNOCENCE

Despite facing the charges, Baloyi's family has always stood by him in the whole saga. During his first court appearance, his family went to support him in court and they were spotted in court again today. Baloyi has always said the rape charge is a set up by the actress and maintained that he had consensual sex with her. During his last appearance, the matter was moved to today as the state needed to verify the WhatsApp messages between him and his alleged victim.

CASE POSTPONED

In a post, after receiving backlash with many accusing her of lying, the actress wrote on social media: "I want to state my case in front of a qualified judge who is educated on the matters of consent, sexual offences and the psychology of rape. I refuse to engage in a popularity contest. I am not 'the goat' or 'the authority. I'm just myself and I'm relying on the law, so please allow due process to take place. Make your judgments after an official judgment has taken place."

Baloyi hit back in a video posted in his X timeline and said: "Anything that happened was consensual and initiated by her. "Not me. She initiated it. So, that's that. That is on record- in those WhatsApp texts you can see. I was honest. Also, I did not insult or disrespect or undermine in any way, shape, or form when I said what I said."
