She empowers women with scholarships, donations, and pledges through the Nomzamo Lighthouse Foundation. Actress and ambassador Nomzamo Mbatha has done it once again and handed over a grand prize of R200 000 to Mpho Hlongwane-Nkgabutle, who attended the Empowering Her 2024 Business Awards Seminar and showed potential.

WINNING

After the seminar, three winners received financial support for their businesses and equipment. Dudu M, who runs a coal mining business, received R100 000, and the main winner, Mpho from MH Automotive Engineering, a 100%, was awarded R200 000. "One of the most impressive women I've ever met,' Nomzamo said about Mpho. According to Nomzamo, Mpho's automotive business assembles and supplies a well-known motor company with parts for some of their models. "With 59 full-time staff and operating in a 2000-square-meter plant, Mpho is only going up from here," Nomzamo said.

THE FOUNDATION

Nomzamo said she started her foundation to make a positive impact on women, children, and communities across South Africa and the continent, eventually. She has several programs running under her foundation, including the 'The Future is Bright bursary programme' to support and assist the youth in South Africa to achieve their academic goals. She has also run the Back to School campaign, a program to provide learners with the necessary supplies to start their new school year. She has also included a program to help young women running their businesses, by inviting them to a seminar to learn from business owners, share their stories, and receive the necessary support to thrive.
