Soccer star Thembinkosi Lorch has left the sea robbers to join the big spenders, Mamelodi Sundowns. Lorch, a fan favourite among fans, won Player of the Season and Player?s Player of the Year during his stint at Pirates.
Lorch was also convicted of Gender Based Violence late last year after a court found him guilty of assaulting his former girlfriend.
Pirates suspended him after being found guilty of assault.Despite the GBV cloud hanging over him, Sundowns signed him on Friday.
On their website, they had photos of Lorch signing on the dotted line, wearing their famous yellow kit
They wrote on their website: "Former South African Player of the Season Thembinkosi Lorch joins Masandawana! ? Let?s welcome our newest addition!"
Lorch joins a couple former Pirates players who crossed to Sundowns in the past.The list includes midfielders, Andile Jali, Oupa Manyisa and Benedict "Tso" Vilakazi.In their parting shot, Pirates said, "The Club thanks ?Nyoso? for his immense contribution by adding another page in the history of the club.We wish him and his family well in his future sporting pursuit."
