Former Generations actress Nambitha Mpumlwana has been scarce from the TV screens for years, but her dry spell has come to an end as she has been cast in Showmax's new series, Soft Life. She will star alongside other well-known stars such as Zizipho Buti, Nthabiseng Mokoena and Nozipho Nkelemba.
ACCUSED OF BEING A DIVA
In the series, she will play the character Judge Iris. Mpumlwana grabbed headlines when she was still on Generations and was accused of being difficult to work with and was reported to have been a diva who wanted things to go her way. However, in interviews, she never refuted the reports; instead, she said that she was a perfectionist.
OFFENDED BY MOVIE
During an interview on The King David podcast last year, Mpumlwana revealed that she struggles to keep quiet when she sees something wrong. The veteran actress revealed that when she was enlisted to be on the judging panel of the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) in 2018, she was offended by the controversial film Inxeba, which starred award-winning actor Bongile Mantsai. "I couldn't judge the film; I was offended by the content. I didn't want to be a part of it. I simply couldn't, and I chose not to judge that particular film because I found it offensive and couldn't keep quiet about it," she said. Over the years, Mpumlwana has starred in various films that have made her the household name that she is today. She was a part of Yizo Yizo, etv's Ashes to Ashes, 7de Laan and many others. She also revealed in the podcast that she still recalls all the roles she's ever played in her career. She's also does MCing gigs, motivational speaking and also radio adverts for big brands.
