He has been ministering through his music for as long as he can remember. This year, singer Thinah Zungu, got ordained as a pastor and has been ministering through Ark Fellowship Church. The Ntate singer is now in the process of building his own church in Inanda.

A PLACE OF WORSHIP

"We worship every Sunday from an old building, but we are in the process of moving to a new building," he says. Like he never planned to be a pastor, he also did not plan to one day build his own church. "I never plan, I never even thought I’d be a pastor one day, but God just called me and I had to accept the calling," he says. To build the church he has taken money from his investments. "I put it on the building, along with pledges from abazalwane (congregants) and some from my fans. So far, we have spent R500 000 and still need another half a million to complete the house of God," he says.

WINNING OVER SOULS

Money and material wealth is not an issue for Thinah, but he is all about healing people through his music. "God deserves good structures so that we can praise Him in good spaces and be comfortable in His presence. We need to invest our time and money on God," he says adding that, "Having a church that we claim as our own gives me peace." "I’m called to do this for a reason, it’s not for me to decide how many congregants join. Even If there are 10 people as long as we spread the gospel and change lives. I’m not into money I’m into winning souls for Christ."

CONTINUING TO MAKE MUSIC

With his involvement in the church, Thinah will continue to minister through music. "I don’t want to confuse the two because there are a lot of people who find comfort also in my music. I was preaching through music, now I’ll be preaching and leading the people of God that I’m called for. I believe that I was ordained the day I was born." Thinah says he has had to make some life changes now that he is a pastor. "My life has changed completely. I now have to put more balance between my career, the work of God and my family. So more time is needed and needs to be spent wisely," he says.
