A 39 year old former police constable, Sizwe Khoza, has been sentenced to three life terms by the Mpumalanga High Court in Mbombela for the murder of his wife Nomthandazo Mnisi, her sister Xolisile and their brother Dennis Collen Mkhatshwa. Khoza shot and killed the three siblings in April 2023 following a domestic dispute.
GUILTY AS CHARGED
Mpumalanga NPA regional spokesperson, Monica Nyuswa, said that Khoza pleaded guilty to three counts of murder last week. Khoza and his deceased wife were said to be having marital issues. He then invited his wife's siblings as well as his relatives to mediate in trying to resolve their problems but when they couldn't reach an agreement, he stormed out. "He came back with a pistol, cocked it and shot at three siblings in cold blood," said the Nyuswa. Khoza used his service pistol to kill the three siblings.
GOOD RIDDANCE
The Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa (DENOSA) in Mpumalanga welcomed the sentence that was handed down to Khoza for killing the two sisters who were nurses and their brother. "DENOSA views the sentence as sending a strong message to the community that perpetrators of GBV+F are to be dealt with harshly by the law upon their arrest. The sentence is concomitant with the grossness of the crime, which has deprived at least more than 180 patients of healthcare in a day, as two of the deceased were nurses."
