Kaizer Chiefs shows head coach Molefi Ntseki the door

Molefi Ntseki has been shown the door at Chiefs

Molefi Ntseki's tenure as Kaizer Chiefs head coach has ended. In a statement this afternoon, the Soweto giants announced that they were cutting ties with Ntseki immediately.

AMICABLE DEPARTURE

This comes just two days after Amakhosi lost 1-0 to Amazulu in the Carling Black Label Knockout Cup on Saturday. After their loss, the visibly upset Chiefs fans threw objects at Ntseki and players. In a statement, Chiefs said after a meeting held today with the former head coach, the team has amicably and by mutual consent ended Ntseki's tenure. Ntseki is released based on the recent run of disappointing results. "Both parties agreed that this was the best course of action under the prevailing circumstances. Cavin Johnson, who recently joined Chiefs as Head of the Youth Development Academy, will take over as the first team coach on an interim basis. Current assistant coach, Dillon Sheppard will retain his position under Johnson," the club said in a statement. Ntseki's woes began in August when disgruntled fans threw bottles at him and demanded that he be fired after the team's shocking defeat at the hands of TS Galaxyat the Mbombela stadium.

ASSISTANT COACH DEMOTED

Coach Ntseki arrived at Chiefs in June 2021 as Head of Technical and Youth Development. He took over as the senior team head coach in June 2023. "I would like to thank Coach Ntseki for his contribution to the club since he arrived here, both at the development level and with the senior team. We wish him success in his future endeavours," said Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr. The departing coach expressed his gratitude to the Chairman Dr Kaizer Motaung and the board of directors for the opportunity to coach Amakhosi and wished the team all the best for the rest of the season. Assistant Coach, Arthur Zwane has been demoted and will return to his former role within the development structures of the club. Amakhosi is currently sitting eighth on the log in the DSTV Premiership, where they won only three of their nine games.
