Scammers are getting increasingly sassy and sophisticated in their attempts to get your money. They use what people hold dear to their hearts to worm their way into people's pockets. Moja LOVE (DStv157) is warning supporters about a donation scam making rounds on social media, demanding a minimum of R100.

IT'S A SCAM

An account under the name TC Simelane has created a poster asking for R100 donations into a bank account that will allegedly go towards a deceased drug dealer's family. The poster states they are hoping to fundraise R2 million to give to his family. Another poster claims that they are putting together funds for Xolani's legal costs, which is far from the truth.

DO NOT DONATE

This is however untrue. Xolani and Moja LOVE do not have any affiliation with this fundraising and cautions people to stay away from making donations. Speaking to ZiMoja, Xolani said: "This scam is saying that Sizok'thola is asking for R100 donations. This is not true. This is a scam. That money is not going to us,". He added that people need to be alert and protect their hard-earned money from scammers. The channel has flagged the scam with Capitec and reported it.
