Singer and songwriter Lindokuhle "Mlindo The Vocalist" Mgedezi has mended his relationship with Maphorisa at Blaqboy Music and is set to release his latest single titled 'Isandla Ska Baba' on 5 April 2024.

STOP GBV

After taking a short break from the limelight following the success of his sophomore album, Lindokuhle, and changing management and a few misfortunes, the award-winning soulful singer makes a comeback with a sobering single titled 'Isandla Ska Baba' featuring Makhafija set to be released next week Friday. After everything he has been through, surviving four car accidents and falling on stage due to fatigue, Mlindo wants his latest sound to be uplifting and spread hope. In the new song, he takes a stand against Gender Based Violence. "Growing up there was always a fight at my neighbour's house where the father was always physically abusing my friend's mother," he says. 'Isandla Ska Baba' is about GBV awareness. "We were young those times, but I remember how it affected my neighbour's friend," he adds. "The father being the breadwinner would silence them. Unable to speak out for the sake of having a plate of food on the table, they suffered emotional, physical and mental abuse."

AFFECTED

He hopes his audience feels and takes the single to heart. "There might be some kid out there going through the same situation today," he says. "I'm trying to reach out to them that they are not alone and that they have a voice to speak out to try prevent the cycle of abuse. This cycle sometimes begins at home hence we need to stand together to fight and prevent GBV at all costs." Mlindo urges other men to speak up against GBV. He was inspired to write the song after reading about the spiralling cases of rape and GBV. "I saw a trend on social media and later on TV about rape and violent cases towards women," he says. "I was so heartbroken and shattered. It also hit me that this is becoming some sort of trend and I don't see any of us as men standing up and fighting for our sisters and mothers. I also questioned myself as an individual and decided to stand up and fight it through my music."
