Missing man's body found dumped in a drain

The man who went missing after he had requested an e-hailing transport to do haircut was found murdered and his body dumped in a drain.


BODY IN A DRAIN


Luzuko Xalakhe (28) from New Brighton in Port Elizabeth in Eastern Cape but lived in Durban was reported missing and he was discovered killed and dumped in a drain in Ezimangweni in Inanda in the north of Durban in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) on Monday. Xalakhe was temporarily residing in Verulam just outside KwaMashu township and was undergoing work related training. According to his colleagues, Xalakhe utilised the services of e-hailing service on Sunday afternoon to travel to the Verulam CBD for a haircut. It was alleged that after he requested the services of the e-hailing services, Xalakhe was never reachable on his cellphone.


SEVERAL ENQUIRIES


Xalakhe's work colleagues contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) the following morning after they discovered that Xalakhe failed to return. "After several enquiries with the public in the Central Business District, officers established that he was seen on the corner of George Sewpersad and Ireland Street on the day of his disappearance. A missing persons circulation was thereafter shared on this social media platform. "The body was later discovered members of the Community Policing Forum (CPF) who alerted RUSA Operations Centre during the early hours of Tuesday morning after viewing the missing persons post. The female confirmed that Xalakhe's body was located in a drain in Ezimangweni. His injuries indicated that he had been tortured and murdered. The motive for the murder has not been established," said RUSA spokesperson Pram Balram.
