Former TV presenter turned actress Minnie Dlamini has landed her first movie nomination. Minnie Dlamini made her first big screen debut in the chick flick movie: The Honeymoon alongside comedian Tumi Morake and actress Kajal Bagwadeen. She revealed that she is nominated for The Simon Mabhunu Sabela Film and Television Awards for best supporting actress.
HONEYMOON BECAME AN INSTANT HIT
The Honeymoon movie centers around three friends Tumi Morake as Noks, Kajal Bagwadeen as Kat, and Minnie Dlamini as Lu. The movie is directed by Bianca Isaac and it tells a story about three friends, Noks, Kat, and Lu who finds themselves in a predicament where one of them gets dumped ahead of her wedding, and the trio decides to turn things around and head to a getaway in Zanzibar, which would have been the suppose to be the newlyweds’ honeymoon destination. Speaking to ZiMoja, Minnie says being recognised is a big deal but being recognised in her home province is an even bigger deal. "I just got the good news feels like a dream, It’s a huge honour, especially being recognised by KZN such a full circle moment for me," she said. Minnie says her nomination has inspired her to take on more action roles. I can’t wait for you to see my next role," she says.
THE AWARDS
The annual award ceremony recognises outstanding achievements and excellence within the South African film and television industry focusing more on the KZN. KZN Film Commission’s acting chief executive officer, Victor Senna, said the aim of the awards is to celebrate the craft of film-making, heroes, and veterans who have made a mark in the film industry. The 2023 edition will celebrate both the 2021 and 2022 eligible productions.
