Actress, TV presenter and mom, Minnie Dlamini is set to be the first celebrity to get roasted at the Showmax Roast of Minnie Dlamini. Minnie says she is ready for the jabs because she knows she is a "great subject and the roast is about having fun and not taking myself too seriously."
TAKING JABS
She also wants to use this as an opportunity to dispel some rumours about her life. "The roast is fundamentally a celebration of my career and there's nothing I love more than a good laugh," she said at the launch. Minnie would appreciate a good jab from comedians Tumi Morake Skhumba Hlophe and Nina Hastie but hopes that regular non-comedians would be on the panel. "I'm really hoping to get a representative from every facet of the industry, someone no one would expect, especially since I've worn so many hats and worked in so many different spaces in the business."
NO LIMITS
No topics are off-limits she says, not even her marriage and ex-boyfriends. "Why not, you only live once. I think there have been great speculation about my life and Twitter is going to enjoy this." The 15th February marked the day, two years ago, that Minnie announced her divorce. "The crazy thing is that I am still here and not divorced yet." Minnie adds that the comedy sometimes can get dark and malicious, she hopes people keep it clean. "I am a producer; I want it to be entertaining and see how far they will take it. We want a good show and not an ugly show. Everyone loves a little bit of a mess, but you can see when someone is malicious and goes off the script," she says.
YES TO KHUNE
She would not mind having ex-boyfriend and footballer Itumeleng Khune on the panel, but she believes he would not agree now that he is married. "That would be interesting. He wouldn't do it but it would be great," she says adding that, "people must be very scared to go for me because I will definitely go for them."
