It seems like free booze got Fees Must Fall leader Mncebo Dlamini overly excited. During the first leg of the MTN 8 semi-final on Tuesday 27 August, at a match between the Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City at the DHL Stadium in Cape Town, the former student leader allegedly became aggressive and uncouth. According to highly placed sources, Dlamini showed his aggressive side when he became rowdy and unruly during the match at the VVIP section.
UNRULY
Dlamini, who was among the top executives, businesspeople and officials in the super executive suit, became the centre of attention with his antics. A witness said instead of watching the match, Dlamini became the centre of attention. The source, who was a few metres away from the Dlamini, said: "He was loud. It was as if he couldn't handle his drinking. He was annoying us because some of us were there to connect and enjoy soccer in peace; instead, all eyes were on him."
HE ALLEGEDLY ASSAULTED A FAN FOR CELEBRATING GOAL
The source added that he became worse and started attacking fans who were cheering for Cape Town City. "He was unruly and emotional from the first whistle, beating up chairs when Pirates was missing goals. He was swearing while throwing things in the air," said the witness. According to another source, when Pirates finally scored in the first half, Dlamini was the happiest man. But during the second half in the 60th minute, CTC scored, and people celebrated at the suite. "People started cheering. I saw Dlamini looking at one guy who was happy cheering. He looked at him angrily, and I knew nothing bad was going to happen," the eyewitness said, adding that Dlamini charged at the guy sitting behind him who was celebrating the CTC goal. "Security took the victim outside to calm him down while Dlamini remained inside the suite," said the source. According to the eyewitness, a few minutes later, the victim returned with his lady, who was still confused about what had happened. "As the poor guy was still explaining to those who didn't know the cause of the fight, Dlamini stood up and chased after the guy, and the poor guy ran for his life while security did nothing," said the source. According to another source in the political circles, Dlamini was confident because he is good friends with one of the soccer bosses who was also present during the drama and turned a blind eye. "Dlamini is connected. He knows people in high places; no one was going to touch him," said the source.
Dlamini hung up the phone when ZiMoja called him for comment.
