Mbuyiseni Ndlozi and Yazini Tetyana bow out as EFF MPs

Mbuyiseni Ndlozi has resigned as EFF MP

Affectionately known as the "People's Bae," Economic Freedom Fighters' Dr. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, alongside another member, Yazini Tetyana, have resigned from Parliament as a representative of the red berets.

THEY WANTED TO GO

This was confirmed by the EFF in a statement this morning stating that the pair's voluntary requests to be released from deployment. EFF national spokesperson Leigh-Ann Mathys said the two sent their resignation letters to party secretary-general Marshall Dlamini within days of each other. They are said to have expressed gratitude to the EFF for the opportunity to serve the organisation and the people of South Africa.

"The EFF has accepted the respective voluntary requests to be released from the deployment of the two fighters, who have diligently served the organisation in their respective deployments since the EFF has had representation in the legislative sphere.

Fighter Tetyana has served in the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature and subsequently the Parliament of South Africa, while Fighter Dr. Ndlozi has served in the National Assembly since 2014. They have both been exemplary in their deployments and acted as commendable public representatives," Mathys said in the statement. The EFF wished them well in their future endeavours.

DARK TIMES

Ndlozi ruffled some feathers by remaining mum following Floyd Shivambu's exit from the party, joining uMkhonto Wesizwe last year. Addressing EFF delegates in December during the party's elective conference, Malema made it clear that anyone absent from the conference was no longer considered part of the party's leadership, and at the time Ndlozi was nowhere near the conference. It was rumoured that he was suspended from the party. "All leaders of the EFF are here in front. There is no leader of the EFF who is not here in front. There is no leader of the EFF who is not here in Nasrec. If they are not here, they are not leaders of the EFF. You must never regard them as the leaders of the EFF," Malema said at the time.
