Mbali Mavimbela drops TV show with immediate effect

Mbalenhle Mavimbela is said to be in breach of her contractMbalenhle Mavimbela is said to be in breach of her contract

Her contract on the TV show Isiphetho was scheduled to come to an end on 30 November, but actress and DJ Mbalenhle Mavimbela terminated it abruptly to join a new show.

QUITTING

The actress who joined the cast of Blackbrain Productions show played one of the leading roles, Buhle, the daughter of Zanemvula played by Sindi Dlathu. A week before a big wedding scene where she plays a pivotal role, Mbalendle resigned to join another production by Burnt Production. An insider revealed to ZiMoja that Mbali will not be available to shoot on 25th until the 28th November as the new production shoots from the 25th November until 21st December. "She resigned with immediate effect. She apparently lied to the new company and said she had done shooting, but she is contracted to work until 30 November. 'She left The Wife in the same manner; before her contract ended for an overseas gig, it's just unprofessional," the insider said.

FRUSTRATED

The insider said producers and scrip writers are frustrated having to work on her exit. "A total inconvenience If you ask me,' he said. The new production is said to be considering recasting for her new role. "They feel cheated, like she lied. How can they work with a person who can lie like that? She could have shot and finished and left peacefully," added the source. A fellow cast member said, "Good riddance; she was a headache anyway, always complaining. The least prepared actor. Fellow actors had to always help re-run her lines with her because she would always forget and was fussy about food, make-up, and everything." In her resignation letter, Mbalenhle said she appreciates the opportunity of joining Blackbrain family and Isiphetho. Mbali's sister and manager, Sam Mavimbela, has confirmed her resignation and would not disclose the details. Blackbrain Production publicist Nyiko Chauke said he was unaware of Mbalenhle's resignation and that he would further enquire.
