Bongani was labelled a home wrecker when she snatched the heart of football legend, Matthew Booth from ex-wife Sonia Booth, who exposed the affair in 2022. After two years of back and forth, Matthew and Sonia's divorce was finalised and the two have gone their separate ways. "It was a year and five months of legal battles, heavily contested and nasty. It drained me emotionally, physically, and financially,' Sonia said. She has since moved on and started a cheesecake business. Bongani and Matthew founded Booth Africa and are happy.

Matthew and Bongani are currently taking time off from the hard work and vacationing at an island in the northern Mauritius resort, the Cannonier Beachcomber Resort, estimated at R4000 a night, excluding spa treatments and food. "They deserve the time off, they have been working hard on their new business,' a friend said. "They are not bothered by all the criticism and social media bullying- they are living their best lives," an acquaintance revealed.
