Award-winning maskandi artist Khuzani Mpungose has postponed his much-anticipated Gcwalisa Orlando Stadium event to a later date, to be confirmed. The event was scheduled for June 8 at the stadium in Orlando, Soweto.

He said in a statement: "In order to achieve your goals in life, you need assistance from many people. If it happens that you fail on something, you must be patient. Don't force matters because you might end with a doing a poor event. I have decided to postpone my Gcwalisa Orlando event to a date that I will announce later," he said. He said there were logistics issues which forced him postpone the event but he did not want to go into details. "I will announce another date later once the stadium management has approved it since there are also soccer fixtures that need to be prioritised. I would like to apologise to music fans as they were eager to come see me performing at the Orlando Stadium,".

Khuzani was aiming to fill up the Orlando Stadium after he had a successful event called Gcwalisa Moses Mabhida two years ago in Durban. He was also going to have other maskandi artists to perform at the event just like he did in Durban. It's still not clear why Khuzani has postponed the event and attempts to get clarity from his manager Mthokozisi Zuma proved fruitless as he refused to be dragged into the matter. "I understand your query, but it is best that you speak to Khuzani as it is his event and he is the one who can tell you the reasons behind the postponement of the event. That's all I can say to you for now," he said. Khuzani is also the event organiser of the Gcwalisa Spring Picnic which he hosts annually in Durban's Moses Mabhida Outer Field. Khuzani could not be reached for a comment.
