Maskandi artist Mthandeni Manqele to stop accepting gigs from Durban

Singer Mthandeni Igcokama Elisha Manqele wants to stop performing in Durban

Prominent maskandi singer Mthandeni "Igcokama Elisha" Manqele will no longer take gigs in Durban, KwaZulu Natal citing attacks and sabotage. Mthandeni mentioned the latest incident that took place two weeks ago where Ukhozi FM presenter Zimiphi "Zimdollar" Biyela grabbed a microphone from him while he was still performing at the Mother of All Maskandi Music Festival and told him to voetsek. At the time, Zimdollar said she did that because Mthandeni arrived late for his perfomance.

THE LAWSUIT

This week, the Paris hitmaker received a letter of demand from the radio presenter who demands a public apology from him for claiming they know each other intimately or face a R1.5 million lawsuit. After the mic grabbibg incident, Mthandeni apologised to his fans and sponsors of the event on behalf of Zimdollar and said that he and the radio personality don't hate each other and that they have an intimate relationship. "I know the behind that I hit in the darkness. I will never be too forward about it in public. I will hit it again in the darkness." (Ngiyasazi isinqa engijwayele ukusishaya ebumnyameni, futhi angeke ngisiphaphele phambi kwabantu. Ngizophinde ngishaye futhi khona ebumnyameni).

NOT WORTH TAKING GIGS IN DURBAN

This week, Mthandeni posted a question on his social media directed to his fans asking if he should continue taking gigs in eThekwini with the way he says he is being treated and attacked in the city when booked at events. "Bhinca Nation and my music lovers at large, is there a reason for me to continue taking Maskandi gigs in Durban though? I'm saying this because there is a big war directed at me, and these people planned this, and they keep provoking me. Lately, I've been getting bookings across the country even in neighbouring countries now these people want to drag my name into the mud. In the latest event, they had planned properly to drag my name into the mud but with God's grace, I survived. This woman (referring to Zimdollar) was sent to provoke me and swore at me, in front of my music fans but I humbled myself and didn't respond." Mthandeni further said: "When I left the stage and walked towards my car, the police stopped me, searched me but they didn't find anything,' He said he is afraid the people who are after him will send izinkabi to finish him off. "What is more important in apologising and paying the R1,5 million which is a lawsuit I'm currently facing? I love my music fans, but I keep up being put through this all the time when I'm performing in Durban," he wrote. When Mthandeni was contacted for comment, he refused to comment. "When I do good things, you don't call me. You always want to write negative things about me," he said before he hung up. Zimdollar could not be reached for comment.
