A 40-year-old woman was stabbed to death allegedly by her boyfriend in Midrand, Gauteng. Nthabiseng Makgotho, who is originally from Rustenburg in the North West, apparently had an argument with her boyfriend on Sunday which ended up with her stabbed multiple times, killing her instantly.

STABBED MULTIPLE TIMES

Nthabiseng's brother Tumelo Makgotho said that the family is devastated as his sister was the breadwinner taking care of everyone including their parents. Makgotho told ZiMoja that it was hard to believe that the person who had claimed to love his sister had done something so horrible. " I am unable to hold my tears every time I think of the fact that I will never see my sister again. I am still in disbelief that Nthabiseng is gone. She was a breadwinner at home and we looked up to her. She was the one carrying us and she was doing everything for my parents and I. The whole family is in pain," he said. Makgotho says the family was informed about her murder on Sunday night and that the boyfriend was arrested the same night. "They have not been dating for long and we don't even know him that much as a family. We want answers, we want to know what could have pushed him to commit such a horrendous crime against my sister," he added.

WASHING THE BODY

According to Makgotho, the police told the family that after the boyfriend murdered his sister, he took off her clothes which were full of blood, and washed her body before dressing her in clean clothes. "What kind of a person can kill their lover, undress them, wash the body, wash the bloodied clothes, and dress them in new clean clothes. That guy is not normal. My prayer is for my sister to get justice and for the guy to rot in jail," he said. The boyfriend was arrested after the neighbours called the police after they heard commotion in their rented flat. He further said that the family was not aware that Nthabiseng was living with her boyfriend as she never formally introduced him to them. Gauteng SAPS spokesperson Capt Mavela Masondo had not reverted back at the time of publishing.
