A man has been arrested and charged with murder after he allegedly stabbed his brother to death over food.
STABBED AND KILLED
Jabu Mduduzi (23) from Evaton in the Vaal allegedly stabbed and killed his brother Dumisani Mduduzi (29) on the chest over an evening meal. It is alleged that Jabu became angry when Dumisani ate his food without asking him. An eyewitness and neighbour, Nkosikhona Khumalo told ZiMoja that he tried to stop the fight and even asked the brothers to go to his house to settle their differences. "They refused and seemed to have calmed down. Jabu pretended as if all was fine but I could see that he was still angry. The next thing, he went inside the house and came out wielding a knife and stabbed his brother. I have never seen such a scene with blood everywhere. It will take me years to forget what I saw, it was horrific especially because they were blood brothers," he said.
TRYING TO KILL HIMSELF
Nkosikhona said that when they tried to reprimand Jabu after his brother's murder, he attempted to kill himself as he knew that the cops were coming. "Jabu did the unthinkable, according to him, he was trying to scare Dumisani. We are still shocked by his behaviour," he said.
Gauteng SAPS spokesperson Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed the horrific incident and said it's alleged that on Sunday, 28 May 2023, at about 9 pm, two brothers were at their house in Evaton West Ext 11. "They allegedly fought over food and the suspect stabbed the deceased once on the chest with a knife. The victim was declared dead on the scene," Masondo said. Jabu appeared before the Sebokeng Magistrates' Court on Monday. The case has been postponed to 14 June for a formal bail application.
