MaMkhize's tax drama continues as people close to her questioned

MaMkhize is at the centre of the tax inquiry involving millions of Rands

Controversial businesswoman and reality star, Shauwn 'MaMkhize Mkhize' was not the only one present during the South African Revenue Service (SARS) inquiry into the 37 million Shandi Trust tax investigations held in Umhlanga, north of Durban, KwaZulu Natal. The inquiry commenced on Friday, 11 July with Shauwn's appearance following that of her cousin's wife, Siphokazi Zuma, and her brother, Melusi Siphesihle Hugh Mkhize, who serve as trustees of Shandi Trust, which has a debt of over R37 million to SARS. MaMkhize owes R13 million in personal tax.

SHAUN STYLIST WAS ALSO QUESTIONED

The Mkhize family is alleged to have been divided at the inquiry. "Shwaun was the main player mentioned there," said the source. Other companies and individuals that were summoned for the inquiry are Shauwn Andile Naki better known as Shaun Stylist, on behalf of Lungza Management Consultants CC, Nozipho and Mvusi Ngubo and Thelma Louise Smuts for the Lungazwile Family Trust.

Senzekile Mseleku, MaMkhize's niece, who is the sole director of DPA Project Managers and Facilitators, was also required to respond to tax concerns regarding her company. However, she was not available at the hearing.

EVEN HER SISTER APPEARED

On Monday, 15 July, Shauwn's estranged husband, Sbu Mpisane, also appeared before the inquiry while his son Andile failed to show up as scheduled at the hearing.

Shauwn's cousin, Lethukuthula Zuma, appeared at the inquiry on behalf of his company, 22 Aston Investment (Pty) Ltd. It also emerged during the hearing that almost all the addresses used by these companies are not the correct ones where taxpayers can easily be traced by the authorities. Some use home addresses, while others opt for the use of offices that they do not use.

The Pietermaritzburg High Court appointed Jaco Venter as a curator on May 9 on behalf of SARS to attach 13 luxury cars under the Shandi Trust held by Shauwn's brother Melusi Sphelele Hugh Mkhize and her two nieces, Siphokazi Zuma and Senzekile Mseleku.

MPISANE WANTS TO CLEAR HIS NAME

A source close to the situation said Mpisane is confident that the truth will finally come out after the hearing is finalised. "A lot is going to come out of this SARS hearing and people will be shocked when a final report is released,' the source said, adding that some people were spilling the beans at the inquiry.

When called for comments Shaun stylist dropped the phone and asked us to text him, but he ignored out text messages. MaMkhize's manager and publicist, Nikiwe Nyembe, said, "I am not currently in communication with Ms Mkhize. Should there be someone that can assist, I will share their contact," after she was sent question.
