uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has accused the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa of sabotage after it cancelled trains it had allocated to the party for its first birthday celebration.
SETTLING SCORES
Party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela complained that government infrastructure is being used as bait to settle political scores.
"Leading up to today, Prasa cancelled our trains, they had allocated trains to pick up people from Umlazi, KwaMashu and the townships and on the eve of us making a payment, they cancelled- again a political decision that was taken," said Ndlela.
GOOD TO GO
This is despite the party?s Secretary General Floyd Shivambu's earlier confirmation that logistics have been covered.
"We have secured transportation for all 11 regions of KwaZulu-Natal and 44 municipalities. We are not able to provide transport for members from other provinces, as the capacity of the stadium and our logistical preparations are not sufficient to accommodate the entire country,? he said.
He added, "Those from outside KZN who wish to attend may do so at their own cost. We've made arrangements with Prasa to provide free train services from KwaMashu, Cato Ridge, and uMlazi," he said earlier.
Shivambu said Umkhonto Wesizwe is a disciplined liberation movement fighting for total emancipation and freedom.
"Our first anniversary celebrations will demonstrate our commitment to uniting progressive forces and amplifying the voices of the oppressed," he said.
