Former child star Longwe Twala will be back in court on Thursday and his father, Sello 'Chicco' Twala, says he wants him to stay behind bars. Twala said he is afraid that if Longwe is released, he will disappear again.

HE WAS ONLY HOME FOR A WEEK WHEN HE ALLEGEDLY STOLE

Longwe had been back for a week from a rehabilitation centre when he allegedly stole from his father's studio at his house in Fourways, Johannesburg. He had been staying at his aunt's house as Twala refused to take him following several theft incidents.

Chicco opened a case of theft against his two sons, Longwe and his name sake Sello, after Longwe jumped a high wall and broke into his studio. They were both arrested last week. But the Randburg Magistrate's Court dropped the charges against Sello, because of lack of evidence. Twala told journalists during his son's court appearance last week that Longwe, who started taking drugs at the age of 17, has been stealing from him for the past 20 years since he started using drugs.

HE MUSTN'T GET BAIL TO TESTIFY IN SENZO'S MURDER TRIAL

Speaking to ZiMoja ahead of his son's bail application in two days, he said his wish is for Longwe not to be granted bail. "I certainly don't want my son to get bail. He will disappear and not be found for his next court appearance," he said, adding that, "The fact that the defence in the Senzo Meyiwa case would be calling him to testify makes it even more worrying because I know for a fact that he will disappear and miss both his court appearances the day he is supposed to testify." Twala told ZiMoja that he knows Longwe will provide his sister's residential address in a bid to get bail and said that will be false. "He knows that he will be in the street taking drugs. He would rather stay in jail and sober up so that he is ready to testify when the defence in the Meyiwa case calls him to testify," the legendary music executive said.
