A six-month search for missing former child star Longwe Twala has finally borne fruit. Longwe, the son of legendary musician and movie producer, Sello "Chicco" Twala ran away from home in Fourways. He left home just before Christmas last year and left his father fuming.
BACK TO THE STREETS
It was rumoured that he was living in the streets, near a dump in Fourways. At the time ZiMoja tried searching for him but it was in vain. A source says Longwe had gone back to drugs. "Longwe told us he was no longer interested in staying with Chicco. He said his father liked controlling his movements. He said that he had been to rehab more than a dozen times, and found that the rehab is not like his father’s home, which is like jail," a source whispers. Another source says his dad tried everything in his power to help him. According to the source, the legendary producer and singer has given up on Longwe. "He is not even ashamed to talk about it, he has tried everything in his power to help Longwe, but he can’t compete with his addiction,"adds the source. This week Chicco told Zimoja that Longwe is in Glenvista, south of Joburg, where he now stays with his mother, Thembi Twala. Chicco and Thembi have since divorced. Chicco and Thembi have another son, Twala Twala, who is producing movies with Chicco.
LONGWE TO TAKE A STAND IN THE COURT CASE
Before turning into drugs, Longwe was a member of the child star group, New Age, popular for the song, Uyajola. A source says the police have also been looking for Longwe since December since he is a state witness in the Senzo Meyiwa murder case which sits at the North Gauteng High Court, in Pretoria. When the former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper and captain was killed in October 2018, Longwe was at the house visiting his now ex-girlfriend and singer, Zandi Khumalo. Meyiwa, who was romantically involved with singer and actress Kelly Khumalo, was killed at her home during that fateful night.
