During the march to the Constitutional Court in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, today, the Economic Freedom Fighter leader Julius Malema urged party members to remain undeterred in their fight for justice, stressing that no one will destroy the organisation.

EFF is demanding accountability from President Ramaphosa over the Phala Phala scandal, criticising Parliament's rejection of the independent panel's report. EFF with the support of African Transformation Movement (ATM) is seeking the ConCourt to declare the National Assembly's decision not adopt the Section 89 Panel Report irrational and unlawful and set it aside. EFF Treasurer-General, Omphile Maotwe said: "They want to hide behind their majority, but Ramaphosa must answer, just like Zuma did after Nkandla." Malema emphasised that the party will not let this matter go to rest until justice takes its course. "This organisation fought Jacob Zuma and it will continue to fight against him and win. Even if Zuma dies tomorrow, we will defeat him, following him to the grave." 

GOT IT ALL WRONG

President Cyril Ramaphosa's lawyer, Advocate Geoff Budlender, said the president's farming activities have never been a secret. Budlender said this at the Constitutional Court hearing EFF application against the Speaker of the National Assembly over the Section 89 Panel Report regarding the Phala Phala matter. He said it looks unlikely that, in bad faith, the country's leader ignored the law. "The EFF asserts over and over again that in assessing the rationality of the National Assembly's decision, one can only have reference to what Minister Ronald Lamola said in his speech. The attempt by the EFF to straight-jacket the defence to this application into one part of what Minister Ronald Lamola said is simply wrong in law and logic." Justice Rammaka Mathopo told Kameel Premhid, representing the EFF, that he does not appreciate how he insinuates in the Constitutional Court that ANC Members of Parliament were influenced on how to vote on the Phala Phala matter. Mathopo said this may amount to insulting the MPs intelligence. Premhid, argued for the amendment of the rules with the adoption of Section 89 of the Constitution, which provides for the removal of the president.
