Lesufi rubbishes claims that the Green Amy contracts have ended

Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has dismissed claims that the Green Army's contracts were terminated

Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has refuted claims that contracts of the Department of Agriculture's Green Army EPWP participants have come to an end. This comes after the Department of Agriculture in the province released a statement stating the contractual agreement came to an end on 31 May. The Green Army EPWP program was launched in May 2023 and have enlisted 6000 participants. The workers individuals have been instrumental in helping communities establish food gardens and maintain cleanliness.


DON'T BE EXCITED 


The statement read, "This communique serves to remind you regarding the contractual agreement that came to an end on 31 May 2024. Furthermore, you are informed that you will receive payment for the days worked during June 2024. Please note that there will be a delay regarding the payment of stipends for June, due to the administrative and systemic processes, that have to be followed after the contractual agreement came to an end on 31 May 2024. We apologise for any inconvenience this might cause."


NO SUCH THING


Lesufi responded to the statement, which was shared on X, and said: "Someone is too excited. This letter was written without my consent or approval. The intentions are clear, to undermine the authority of the 7th administration. This, will not be allowed!"
