Lebohang Morake, better known as Lebo M, is famous for creating The Lion King and has found success in America, Australia and Europe, where he has spent time performing with cast of the Lion King. The huge success of his production saw Lebo M spent time living in the USA, even starting a family there, He eventually got his American Green Card under the Entertainment Arts category and an American passport. 

But the American government has reportedly summarily revoked his Green Card and passport sending Lebo M a letter to return the passport and any other official documents back. 

The only time the USA revokes a passport is when the holder has either violated American criminal or civil laws; has spent excessive time spent outside America or when the holder has been found guilty of fraud or other misrepresentations including tax affairs.  Zimoja has learnt that Lebo M's passport has been revoked by the Consulate General of the USA because he has, "a seriously delinquent debt....Therefore, you are not entitled to a US passport and your passport is revoked."

This comes as a blow, since he is going to be stuck in South Africa, until he revolves his issues with the Internal Revenue Services (IRS), which is the tax revenue, and operates like the South African Revenue Service (SARS) in the country.

The letter sent to Lebo M, dated July 11 2023, reads in part: "The US passport remains the property of the US Government and must be surrendered upon demand.

You are requested to immediately return US passport number **** along with any other valid US passports issued to you, to the bearer of the letter. Any further use of a US passport is a felony."

Morake recently sold all his shares in the Lion King production company that holds rights to his music catalogue and other rights for a reported R230 million cash settlement before tax in America and South Africa.
