Die Poppe Sal Dans hitmaker, Solly Moholo, has passed away, just over a month after falling ill during his pre album launch event in Botswana. His management team confirmed the death of the 65-year-old singer, whose real name is Solomon Molokoane, in a statement this afternoon.
HIS LAST PERFORMANCE WAS ONE OF THE BEST
"It is with great sadness that we are informing you, on behalf of the Molokoane family - that is Solly Moholo's family, that our beloved legend "Solly Moholo" has sadly passed on," read the statement. The news of his passing comes just over a month after the energetic dancer with hyper stage presence visited the neighbouring country of Botswana on tour. He fell sick while going to attend a launch of his upcoming coming project titled Wubani O zo Pepeza. His last performance in Botswana was described as one of the best and he was well-received by the people of Botswana. After being admitted in hospital in Botswana, he was eventually transferred to a Mzansi hospital. His family and management pleaded with Mzansi for aid to fund his medical bill as he urgently needed a brain operation. His medical bill was estimated to be just around R700 000 when the family asked for help. His management was also organising a concert to raise funds to pay for his hospital bills.
HE PASSED AWAY IN HOSPITAL
According to his management he passed on today in hospital. "Solly Moholo was hospital after falling ill following his pre album launch tour in Botswana. He will be sorely missed. May his laughter continue to echo the walls of heaven. Let us remember him fondly for the healing music he gave us over the years," the statement said. His family also requested their privacy during the trying time to process the news of his death and to be given time to mourn. "At this time, the family would like to request that they be given privacy and time to mourn the passing of Ntate Solly Moholo and prepare for his burial. "The family also promised to keep his fans and members of the media updated with details of his memorial and funeral. "Details of his memorial and funeral will be shared in the coming days on all Solly Moholo official pages. Please keep the family in your prayers."
