When the Zulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini promised him a special gift after interviewing him a few months ago on his show, he did not take it seriously. But over the weekend, during the traditional Reed Dance ceremony on Saturday, the King honoured his promise and gifted radio personality Tbo Touch with a royal cane.
Touch said he was grateful that the King, with his very hectic schedule, still honoured his word. "Firstly, it was admirable to see the King honouring his word, given the fact that he invited me in July when he visited our show." Touch received the gift at Enyokeni Royal palace in KwaNongoma on Saturday and it is said to be a recognition of the Molefe's royal descendants. Touch expressed his excitement and gratitude for the gift.
He says the special gift presented to him by the Zulu King is a significant recognition of his cultural heritage. He told ZiMoja that the royal cane cannot be given to just anyone but those with the royal bloodline. According to the Metro FM DJ, he is of the prominent Molefe bloodline, who are the royal family. Speaking about the gift, Touch expressed his gratitude, saying that it is an honour to be recognised by the King. "This highlights the importance of preserving our culture and passing it down to future generations. The royal cane for me represents trust and faith in me. It has boosted my confidence to soldier on knowing that I've got the blessing of the King," he said.
