Queen Khazeka, also known as Dr Nolubabalo 'Babsi' Mcinga, the sixth wife of Abathembu king has now joined the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). Queen Khazeka and the controversial king separated only three months into their marriage.

AN ADDRESS

Although her position in the party is not yet clear, she recently spoke at the

Dr. Beyers Naude Sub-Regional Campaign Programme in Willowmore, Knysna, alongside EFF deputy president Floyd Shivambu, where she addressed over 200 people on the coming elections. Key points from her speech at the hall meeting emphasised the power of the people. "Amandla, ngawethu!' she chanted. "We need to acknowledge that the power is ours. I urge people to understand this power and to use it by voting, to ensure that our voices are heard," Queen Khazeka said. "We need to take ownership and demand better leadership and opportunities for our communities."

OPPOSING VIEWS

Despite her estranged husband seen at a recent ANC function, speaking and adorned in the party's colours, she told ZiMoja that the King is still a member of the EFF. "There is no truth to the rumours of him joining the ANC and leaving the EFF. Knowing the King, I can attest that he has always been and remains loyal to the EFF and its principles,' Queen Khazeka said. "It's important to understand the deep historical connection between the ANC and the King's family. The ANC was founded by his forefathers and his father played a crucial role in pushing the movement for numbers during the liberation struggle,' she added. "The King himself actively fought for the liberation of the country from a young age and was forced into exile. Nelson Mandela is the King's father's cousin, who was raised in the same house, sleeping in the same hut in Mqekezweni Great Place, so Nelson Mandela is King Buyelekhaya Zwelibanzi Dalindyebo's uncle.'

HER STANCE

Queen Khazeka said her involvement with the EFF is to carry forth the spirit of the late Winnie Madikizela Mandela. "She was a leading opponent of the apartheid era and of our time. She was brave and a true revolutionary, brave and fearless and is what I want to embody and want to impart in this generation,' she added. "This is not just for the coming elections but going forward for the future of South Africa.' Queen Khazeka said she has always been vocal about her political standing. "It's no secret. I have always been an advocate for change. I come from a bloodline of royalty as well as political leaders, activists and many who died so I could be here. So, I carry this forth.'
